Kenya is unlikely to ink a new deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) before the conclusion of the August 2027 General Elections, dealing a blow to Treasury's efforts to plug the budget deficit using cheap loans.
Multiple people familiar with the IMF thinking reckon it would be unlikely for the IMF to reach a new deal with Kenya, barely 11 months to the August 9, 2027 polls, which raise concerns on policy continuity in the event of a regime change.
