Just over two weeks ago Romain Grosjean suffered a crash from hell during the Bahrain Grand Prix, which was reminiscent of the fatal accidents that blighted Formula One racing during the early 1970s.
That the Frenchman was able to escape with relatively minor injuries has been described as a miracle but, in reality, it has more to do with motorsport’s relentless pursuit of safety than divine intervention.
