Real estate firm Optiven Group will next month complete the installation of 350 solar power systems at its Machakos property, paving the way for building.

George Wachiuri, the chief executive, said the installation of the systems for Sh8.2 million would power lighting, streetlights, garden irrigation and other social amenities at its Garden of Joy property.

“We are installing the systems and next month…this will cut the power bills for the owners by about 45 per cent, and this is good because we are moving towards green energy to conserve our environment,” he said.

“The property can take about 400, but some have bought more than one plot so it will be about 350.”

The completion of the installation at the Machakos property will bring Optiven Group’s total investment in the green energy to an estimated Sh190 million.

The firm is spending Sh170 million on renewable energy at its Sh8 billion Amani Ridge gated property in Kiambu.
