A high-end mental hospital in Nairobi’s Lavington area will spend Sh530 million to put up a four-storeyed building aimed at enhancing psychiatric treatment in Kenya.
Chiromo Lane Medical Centre’s ‘Bustani’ property standing on 0.752 acres parcel of land will be transformed into a 140-bed facility.
The centre has since 2007 served foreigners in Kenya suffering from depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorder, adjustment disorder, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder and addiction.
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study prepared by Green Choice Limited’s Ms Elizabeth Nzania and Mr Simon Nyakweya, urged the National Environment Management Authority (Nema) to approve implementation of the project saying it has immense economic benefits and is aimed at enhancing availability of quality psychiatric services.
“The proposed project is intended to enhance psychiatric medical services offered at the Chiromo Lane Medical Centre by providing highly specialised care, modern treatments for clients and a more spacious and comfortable environment,” says the EIA.
