IThe PrideInn group of hotels has been voted the best tourism and hospitality service provider at the annual Mombasa Business Awards.

The hotel chain scooped the award during a gala event that took place at Wild Waters in the port city last Friday.

In the best tourism and hospitality category, Sarova Hotels was first runners-up while Serena Hotels came in third.

The annual award ceremony, organised by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), is in its fifth cycle.

KNCCI Mombasa branch executive officer James Kitavi said the awards are aimed at recognising and rewarding excellence across all sectors.

Since 2013, it has also recognised the achievements and contributions of business leaders in Mombasa County.

The event brings together business leaders from the hospitality industry, manufacturing and service providers.

“The award win is a reminder that we have to keep on improving our service and products considering the stiff competition in the hotel industry,” PrideInn Group managing director, Hasnain Noorani said.

“I thank the staff and management for delivering quality service to both local and international guests, which made us win the coveted award.”

Upgrade

In January next year, he said, the group of hotels plans to invest Sh300 million in renovating the hotel in a bid to improve its standards.

It will entail the upgrading of rooms, bathrooms, public areas and landscaping of the facility.

As part of its expansion programme, Mr Noorani says the firm plans to build 10 more hotels in various towns across the country.
