Kenya Power #ticker:KPLC , Equity Bank #ticker:EQTY , My Lotto Kenya and Airtel Kenya have been ranked among top firms in Kenya that engage their customers on social media platforms.

For the second year running Kenya Power emerged as the most “socially devoted” industrial company, according to Q4 2016 rankings by Czech-based IT monitoring firm Socialbakers.

The social marketing and analytics firm, tracks social media accounts of companies across the world to grade corporations based on the volume of queries handled, length of time it takes to answer, alacrity, tone of responses, and fraction of questions ignored.

Speaking to the Business Daily Nikola Pantovic, VP sales at Socialbakers, said social media changed the marketing landscape creating new avenues that did not exist a few years ago.

“Every day, there are 500 million tweets, 52 million Instagram posts and 10 billion daily video views on Snapchat. These figures clearly illustrate how enormous the social noise ratio is at the moment; social media is no longer simply about generating Facebook likes, it’s a world full of insights and opportunities for businesses,” he said.

My Lotto Kenya emerged as the top social devoted gambling company when it came to responding to questions on Facebook even though it had the least amount of fans of all the top ten winners with just 58,092.

The gambling firm had a response rate of 89 per cent to the 2,005 questions that were asked answering each questions at a response time of 67.8 minutes.

Equity Bank emerged the eighth best company in the finance sector globally answering 94 per cent of all the 2,670 questions that had been posed to them on their Facebook page.

Equity Group CEO, Dr. James Mwangi said social media has grown from being a mere digital channel for “socialising” to one of the most powerful digital marketing tools for brands.
