Listed flour miller Unga Group Ltd has announced the resignation of Mary Kimotho M’Mukindia as a director of the firm's board.

In a notice to the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), board chair Isabella Ocholla said Ms M’Mukindia's exit was effective April 15, 2016.

Ms M’Mukindia also sits on the board of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

She has recently come under fire after she was accused by a whistleblower of taking a Sh7.5 million bribe from UK-based tobacco manufacturer BAT.

The bribe, according to former BAT employee-cum-whistleblower John Hopkins, was then passed on to former Justice minister Martha Karua.

The taxman has previously said that it had invited the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the claims.

Ms M’Mukindia, a former chief executive at State-owned oil marketer Nock, also served as a campaign adviser for Ms Karua’s failed presidential bid in 2013.
