Microsoft has launched a new product targeting learning institutions as schools integrate digital tools and technology in the curriculum.
Microsoft 365 Education consists of several applications and products integrated to aid learning at all levels.
Featured apps and products in the single cloud-based package include Office 365, Windows 10, Intune for Education and Minecraft — a game that teaches students lessons on coding.
The new product is set to help schools prepare learners better and equip them with skills necessary as well as help to make them competitive in the job market.
Microsoft’s new package is expected to empower teachers by making it possible for them to use applications or technology gadgets when instructing students.
The tech firm announced that the product is available in 19 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and hopes to grow the number of partners as it unveils more tech products for education.
Currently, the product is being used to aid learning in various institutions in Kenya including Strathmore University, United States International University-Africa and Catholic University.
“We know that schools want simple to purchase, simple to manage, secure and efficient systems.
“Microsoft 365 Education is designed to deliver on that need. Millions of teachers and students are already using Office 365 for Education to communicate and collaborate with each other every day,” said Mark East, Microsoft regional education lead in Europe Middle East and Africa.
He said the solution is supposed to make it easier and cheaper for schools to acquire all the products they need at a go as the company has modernised and simplified its licensing programme.
