Safaricom’s #ticker:SCOM Blaze programme that encourages entrepreneurship has so far registered 7.9 million youths on its platform, an in-house survey shows.

Safaricom head of research and Insights Victor Ikawa said last Thursday during a forum organised by Marketing and Social Research Association (MSRA) that the firm’s services are tailored for young people who are mostly unemployed.

Blaze targets the fast-growing age group of 18 to 26 years, offering them access to a specialised platform which includes custom-made tariffs.

It encourages entrepreneurship through the Be Your Own Boss (Byob) programme and training camps. “Understanding the youth helps us to ensure that our services meet their needs,” said Mr Ikawa.
