Global hospitality group AccorHotels has increased the number of its properties in the country and globally following its acquisition of Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts for Sh56.7 billion ($567 million)
This will see the new Mövenpick Nairobi Hotel fall under the AccorHotels umbrella alongside Fairmont the Norfolk, Fairmont Mara Safari Club and Fairmount Mount Kenya Safari Club, Ibis and Pullman which is set to open later in the year.

“With the acquisition of Mövenpick, we are consolidating our leadership in the European market and are further accelerating our growth in emerging markets, in particular in Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific,” Sébastien Bazin, chairman and CEO of AccorHotels said in a statement.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is operating in 27 countries with 84 hotels, approximately 20,000 rooms and a particularly strong presence in Europe and the Middle East.
It opened its first property in Nairobi last month featuring a rooftop revolving restaurant.
