French cosmetics group Yves Rocher has opened its third fully-fledged branch in Kenya at Hub Mall in Karen, seeking a bigger piece of Kenya’s multi-billion-shilling beauty industry.

“At The Hub Karen, we have been undertaking extensive marketing outreach programmes to enable us attract local and international retailers catering to a discerning clientele,” said Philippe Cauviere, the Chief Executive Officer of Azalea Holdings, the developers of The Hub Karen.
Founded in 1959 by French entrepreneur Yves Rocher, the botanical beauty brand is the best-selling cosmetics line in France, and currently operates in more than 90 countries.
The beauty products brand was started by Yves Rocher, a French who drew on his love for flowers and plants. This was the beginning of the family-run business that now makes botanical lotions, scrubs, shower gels and makeup. The firm has over 250 botanical sources globally for its products. The plants are sourced in various countries including Senegal, Madagascar, Mexico, Canada, France and China.
The skincare products at Yves Rocher are plant-based and contain a small percentage of preservatives. The products are inspired by the world shifts to healthier lifestyles ranging from food and fitness, there is also increased demand for botanical cosmetics that are less harsh. In Kenya, their top-selling range is the face care including the hydra vegetal, seba vegetal as well as the anti-ageing oils. Vegetal has no preservatives. The firm has about 150 beauty experts in the company including botanists, dermatologists and agronomists.
