Technology firm Huawei Kenya has partnered with Odyssey Capital’s Lipa Later facility to allow users to pre-order and purchase devices on credit.

The partnership will allow those wishing to purchase the Chinese technology firm’s Y7 Prime 2019 launched Thursday to receive the devices and make payments in monthly instalments.

The Y7 prime 2019 is the latest mid-range Huawei smartphone to hit the market with the manufacturer setting the retail price at Sh17,999.

“Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 is made for today’s dynamic youth who are deeply engaged with the social media culture,” said Steven Li, Head of Eastern Africa Mobile for Huawei.

More mobile device manufacturers and dealers are partnering with credit firms to capture the consumer who may not have ready cash but wants to upgrade their device.

The Huawei phone will be available for monthly repayments starting from Sh2,600.

It comes with a 4000MaH battery, 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage. It will be available in black, aurora blue and red.

Oppo last year partnered with Lipa Later to allow for a trade in system and monthly instalments for payment of devices.
