Isuzu East Africa is targeting its customers with a newly refurbished service centre in Nairobi that is expected to cut down on shipment orders for vehicle parts from Dubai.

Launched on Monday, the firm says the facility’s Sh100.7 million upgrade will enable customers to get faster services and 21,000 different parts for their vehicles.

“For us getting the certification, getting the best knowledge from the global integration with Isuzu Motors International who have already been in that space, we will now be able to offer services to meet the international standards,” Isuzu East Africa managing director Rita Kavashe said during the launch.

The spare parts will be available on demand, a shift from the past when it was forced to ship some items from Dubai which took several days.

The firm says customers will spend a maximum of two hours for scheduled maintenance, get access to mobile services and field engineers all from the centre located in Industrial Area.

The facility that measures 4,200 square feet will also be the distribution outlet for its Tanzanian and Ugandan markets.

Isuzu says it is eyeing two more service centres on the busy Mombasa-Malaba transport corridor by the end of 2020.

One will be put up in a yet-to-agreed point between Mombasa and Nairobi while the other will be set up between Kenya’s capital and the Ugandan border.

Isuzu Motors International FZE president, Makoto Kawahara, who commissioned the facility, reiterated the firm’s dedication to improving services to its customers in the region.

The centre has 17 technicians handling light vehicles, 15 for heavy commercial vehicles like lorries and buses and 17 others working in the body and paint department.
