Fashion apparel retailer Deacons East Africa #ticker:DCON has re-appointed Judy Kibaki to its board two years after she left to pursue other interests.

Ms Kibaki, who is the daughter of former President Mwai Kibaki, joins five other directors of the company and takes the place of Ms Betty Mwangi who recently resigned as director of the NSE-listed firm.

Other members of the board include Peter Njoka (chairman), Muchiri Wahome (CEO) and directors James Olubayi, Ms Kamami Mweti and Diana Bird.

“Betty Mwangi got busy at her current engagement at Britam and requested the board to relieve her of her duties and to give her space to pursue other matters that currently have her tied up,” said Mr Wahome in response to queries by the Business Daily on Monday.

“Judy Kibaki re-joins the board after a two year break and she is now ready to serve again.”
