KCB #ticker:KCB Foundation will continue to support the annual Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Festival in Baringo County.

The latest event saw Sh25 million raised in less than an hour. The event aims to provide market for farmers and able them to maximise returns from their livestock.

“Our relationship with Baringo County on the livestock programme dates back to 2014 when KCB Foundation, through Mifugo ni Mali programme, signed a partnership agreement with the county and provided Sh30 million, an interest-free loan geared towards improving livestock productivity, value addition, business development and market access initiatives,” said KCB Rift Valley regional manager Victoria Kamuren.

Mifugo ni Mali is a livestock value chain programme that targets livestock keepers in arid and semi-arid lands with a view to commercialising the sector and transforming it into a vibrant segment where livestock producers can realise maximum returns.

Using co-operatives and group ranches, livestock value chain enterprises are helped to address productivity, nutrition and husbandry challenges, and also gain access to discounted loans.
