“Establishing a regional office in Kenya is a strong vote of confidence by Sanofi on its investment intent for the region,” Peter Munyasi, general manager of Sanofi for East Africa said.

In Kenya, Sanofi has concentrated its disease management efforts on diabetes and thrombosis, launching a new diabetes drug last month.

The drug maker joins an increasing number of French multinationals which are growing their footprint in Kenya.

The deputy head of mission charge d’affaire at the French embassy, Kim Ramoneda, said the number of companies with offices in Kenya had risen to 100.

She attributed the interest to the country’s growth prospects and its status as a regional transport hub, attributes that have also attracted multinationals from other countries including the United States.
