StanChart cuts opening hours in digital banking push

What you need to know:

  • The bank sent its customers the notice of the new hours of operation for five of its branches, with some opening for less hours while others ceasing operations on Sunday.
  • Branches at Thika Road Mall (TRM), Greenspan and T-Mall will all operate for less hours on weekdays and Saturday while they will all remain on Sunday.

Standard Chartered Bank (Kenya) #ticker:SCBK has reduced the number of working hours at some of its branches in Nairobi as it continues to push customers to embrace digital banking.

The bank sent its customers the notice of the new hours of operation for five of its branches, with some opening for less hours while others ceasing operations on Sunday.

“We wish to draw your attention that effective 15th May, 2017, the branches below will have new working hours. These changes will help us serve you better,” reads the notice sent to customers.

“Remember, you can always access and transact on your account through our Mobile App and Online banking platform from wherever you are.”

Branches at Thika Road Mall (TRM), Greenspan and T-Mall will all operate for less hours on weekdays and Saturday while they will all remain on Sunday.

TRM was previously operating for nine hours on weekdays will now be open for eight hours staring at 10:00 am. Its Saturday hours will be reduced from the current six to four starting at 10:00 am and it will stop Sunday operations.

Schedules at Greenspan and T-Mall will also be changed to match those of TRM.

The bank’s Muthaiga and Garden City branches will however extended their banking hours on weekdays to ten and eight hours, up from the current seven hours.

On Saturday, customers will enjoy an additional three hours at the Muthaiga branch which will close at 4:00 pm.
