The lawyers representing Mr Wangusi and CA on April 26, told the court that they were in talks with a view of resolving the matter out of court and requested for one month to finalise.
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) boss Francis Wangusi has entered talks aimed at resolving a suit he filed following his suspension from work.
The CA board sent Mr Wangusi on a three-month compulsory leave on January 12, arguing they needed him out of office to allow an independent audit on the regulator’s hiring processes.
He moved to court and obtained an order reinstating him to the job.
The lawyers representing Mr Wangusi and CA on April 26, told the court that they were in talks with a view of resolving the matter out of court and requested for one month to finalise.
“The parties are in talks with a view to settle the matter out of court, we ask for a month,” CA’s lawyer Benson Ngugi told Employment and labour Relations Court Judge Hellen Wasilwa.
They are set to return to court on June 6, 2018 to record consent.
The new development is a complete shift from acrimonious relationship that characterized the engagement between the board and Mr Wangusi, even prompting him to file a contempt case.
Mr Wangusi accused the CA board and the ICT ministry of defying the directive and locking him out of office, prompting the contempt suit, which the authority denies.
The authority denied the allegations noting that he was denied entry by police officers.
The Authority says the police officers arrived at the premises at 5.30am and took over the clearance of visitors at the Waiyaki Way office.
They allegedly identified themselves as officers from police headquarters who were on a “security operation entailing strict security enhancement and access by authorised people and properly cleared visitors and clients”.
He was allowed back in office in February after an ugly standoff with authorities that lasted nearly two weeks.
Mr Wangusi has been at the helm of the telecoms sector regulator since 2012 when he took over from Charles Njoroge.
