How two words can influence your future

What you need to know:

  • Winners never complain, instead they are busy getting things better: What brings you closer to winning is your effort, focus and dedication. Spend time polishing yourself rather than whining.
  • If you are not helping to make it right, then stop complaining about it being wrong: Why even bother complaining about things being wrong when you can’t make them right.
  • Gratitude never goes wrong: Happiness comes easier when you stop complaining about the problems you have and start being grateful for the problems you don’t have.

There once was a monastery that was very strict. Following a vow of silence, no one was allowed to speak at all. But there was one exception to this rule.

Every ten years, the monks were permitted to speak just two words. After spending his first ten years at the monastery, one monk went to the head monk. “It has been ten years,” said the head monk. “What are the two words you would like to speak?”

“Bed... hard...” said the monk.

“I see,” replied the head monk.

Ten years later, the monk returned to the head monk’s office. “It has been ten more years,” said the head monk. “What are the two words you would like to speak?”

“Food... stinks...” said the monk.

“I see,” replied the head monk.

Yet another ten years passed, and the monk once again met with the head monk who asked, “What are your two words now, after these ten years?”

“I... quit!” said the monk.

“Well, I can see why,” replied the head monk. “All you ever do is complain.”

Thomas Fuller, once famously said, “We are born crying, live complaining and die disappointed”. How true is it?

We all face situations in life that we are not happy about, be it being stuck in the traffic jam for no fault of yours or walking into the bank only to find a long queue at the counter or even not getting the promotion at work or worse, your very undeserving colleague (as per your opinion) getting a better promotion than you.

And the next thing you do even before you realise is to start complaining about the gross injustice meted out to you – how bad things are, how they could be better and so on. Yet the one thing that most of us do not realise is the ripple effect that you create.

Firstly, you feel terrible, then you pass it on to others who may or may not feel terrible. Those who feel terrible feel equally pained and hurt. Those who don’t feel terrible, probably are not even bothered.

So, if you are unhappy about things that are happening in your life or life not being what you wanted, then stop complaining and start making your life what you want.

Change the perspective of your life, to accept and be grateful to what you have.

Negative mind can’t give positive results

1. Winners never complain, instead they are busy getting things better: What brings you closer to winning is your effort, focus and dedication. Spend time polishing yourself rather than whining.

2. If you are not helping to make it right, then stop complaining about it being wrong: Why even bother complaining about things being wrong when you can’t make them right.

3. Gratitude never goes wrong: Happiness comes easier when you stop complaining about the problems you have and start being grateful for the problems you don’t have.

4. Get a positive perspective: A negative mind will never give you a positive result.

5 Focus where you need to: Spending today complaining about yesterday, won’t make tomorrow any better.
