Private and public agencies seeking to promote products, services or campaign messages on billboards can now choose their preferred location from a newly launched online portal-Adspace Africa.

The self-service platform follows year-long research and product development by two companies—Onestop Adspace and Belva Digital —that invested Sh10 million in the new venture.

In a statement, Adspace Co-founder and Chief Digital Officer Fred Kithinzi said the new platform solves challenges experienced by businesses seeking specific locations for their billboards.

“Many customers rely on brokers, agencies or go to known billboard vendors who charge them exorbitant fees. But the platform reduces the chain and pain by granting customers direct access to listed billboards and their locations across Kenya,” he said.

This, he added, will increase competition among the 40 players where customers will be able to determine their choice based on price as well as location.

“The outdoor space has remained largely traditional, undigitised, which makes it rather frustrating even for experienced marketers. Adspace Africa seeks to make outdoor advertising more transparent, easy and measurable,” he said.

The portal, he said, will enable advertisers search for preferred sites(locations), add to their media plan and confirm bookings online while vendors will have a self-service access right enabling them to regularly update their inventory, monitor bookings and track revenue at no cost.

Co-founder and Adspace Chief Executive Bertha Babu said the one-stop shop arrangement was aimed at fast-tracking bookings, payment and placement of billboards thereby enabling customers reach their targeted audiences.

Currently, Belva, a digital marketing firm services various contracts for blue chip companies as well as state agencies.
