Mr Ogutu said the Foundation will leverage on its partners’ expertise to enact its new strategy.
Under economic empowerment, it will focus its efforts to empower the youth through entrepreneurship opportunities.
For education, the focus will be on literacy and numeracy as well as technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
The Safaricom Foundation has launched a three-year strategic plan focusing on health, education and economic empowerment.
The initiatives will focus on maternal health, non-communicable diseases, vocational training, and youth empowerment.
“Our mission is to build communities and demonstrably transform lives through impactful investments and partnerships that are aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Joseph Ogutu, Chairman, Safaricom Foundation.
Annually, the Safaricom Foundation has been spending approximately Sh350 million on their projects across the country.
“In the new strategy, the company is reviewing the amount in place. We are looking at about Sh500 million to start the projects,” said Mr Ogutu.
