The scramble for office space among the newly appointed chief administrative secretaries (CASs) is expected to intensify this week as the nine ministers sworn into office Friday get down to business.

Already some of those appointed are yet to get office space even in the dockets that had serving Cabinet secretaries.

While some have been waiting to be allocated spaces, others have been on stand-by as renovation works get under way in their respective ministries. There is also a group of CASs, that has been waiting for the swearing of their Cabinet secretaries.

But there are others who have already settled down in their offices.

Land CAS Gideon Mung’aro, has for instance, been waiting for renovations of his office to be completed.

Mr Mung’aro said he has stayed away for lack of space, adding that one had to be identified between the 10th and 12th floors of Ardhi House.

“I hope it will be ready by Monday so that I can help the Land secretary deliver the Jubilee agenda as outlined by the President,” Mr Mung’aro said, adding; “I didn’t go there the whole of last week and the week before because there was no space.”

Foreign Affairs CAS Ababu Namwamba is also looking for space.

“It will now be easy to get space because CS Dr Monica Juma has been sworn in,” said an officer at the Foreign Affairs ministry.

However, former Subukia MP Nelson Gaichuhie now the National Treasury CAS, has a different story.

“The office I got was vacant so I didn’t have problems. I have been reporting daily and even now, I am overseeing the preparation of supplementary budget before it is taken to the National Assembly after concluding the budget policy statement,” said Mr Gaichuhie.
