Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) management was Tuesday sent out of a House committee meeting for failure to provide answers to a multi-million shilling property in Embakasi, which has no title documents.

Jonny Andersen, KAA managing director, had to apologise to the Public Investments Committee (PIC) after presenting conflicting information on the parcel of land measuring 3.5 acres that the authority had failed to secure title deeds for from the 2012/13 financial year.

PIC chairman Abdulswamad Nassir discontinued the session, which was hearing queries raised by Auditor- General Edward Ouko on the KAA’s books of accounts for the last four financial years, after MPs criticised the authority for lack of preparedness and poor presentation of responses.

“We will have no option but to stand KAA down and require that they go back and organise information and return before us in 48 hours,” Mr Nassir said.

Mr Ouko’s report had questioned Sh29.6 billion declared by KAA as assets.

The auditor said the amount includes Sh5.79 billion described as operating lease. “The lease amount excludes a plot measuring 3.29 acres in Embakasi Village that is not valued as its ownership is in dispute,” said the report.
