Laikipia County has hired World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC) as a consultant to advise it on promoting food security and affordable housing projects.

The IFC has signed two advisory service agreements with the county government aimed at assessing the viability of private sector participation in delivering the two pilot projects.

The affordable housing project is set to be implemented in Nanyuki while the Integrated Feedlot Scheme aims to modernise the livestock sector.

“Our support to Laikipia will help deepen private sector participation in sustainable development while creating markets to maximise impact on the ground,” said Manuel Moses, IFC country manager.

The Big Four agenda includes food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable healthcare. President Uhuru Kenyatta said his administration would pay special attention to the four key sectors, which he believes would drive Kenya’s economic agenda.
