The transport regulator has revoked the licence of a Passenger Service Vehicle (PSV) operator following a tragic traffic crash last week that killed nine at Kwa Harun blackspot in Kamara on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) director-general Francis Meja said in a statement Wednesday that Green Line Bus Company will lose their licence for failing to comply with the traffic regulations.

“Following the tragic crash that occurred on February 17, 2019 at Kamara area involving a vehicle registration number KBN 701N belonging to Green Line Bus Company where nine innocent lives were lost, the authority has suspended the operator’s licence in line with section 34 of the NTSA Act,” said Mr Meja.

Section 34 of the NTSA act states that the authority may revoke or suspend a licence issued under this Act where the licensee fails to comply with a condition for the issuance of the licence. The licence can also be revoked in the event that the operator fails to operate the motor vehicle with respect to which the licence was issued.

Mr Meja however noted that that Green Line Bus Company will get back their licence after doing a road safety training for all its drivers, conductors, and owners and company officials.

They are also expected to reinstate their fleet management system, acquire road service licence for all their vehicles.
