An MP has moved to court seeking about Sh10 million for wrongful dismissal at the National Bank of Kenya #ticker:NBK.

Alego Usonga MP Samuel Onunga Atandi has sued the bank for Sh9,936,000 for the manner in which he was sacked nine months ago before attempting his hand in politics.

Through lawyer Nicholas Sumba, he faulted the bank for phasing out his position as director of institutional and transactional banking and laying him off with a Sh1.65 million package.

He argued that he was discriminated against by his former employer after it declined to voluntarily terminate his job under the early retirement scheme.

He joined NBK from NIC Bank in July 15, 2015 on a monthly pay of Sh828,000 and now wants compensation equivalent to his one-year pay and a 40 per cent loan rebate on his credit facilities.

The MP says that he was offered a small package equivalent to his two-month pay of Sh1.65 million, less than the exit terms spelt out in a December circular that announced the pashing out of his position.
