A man who was suspected of collaborating with the attacker of Deputy President William Ruto’s Sugoi home on July 29 was yesterday acquitted by an Eldoret court.

Abdikadir Abdullahi Abdi was arrested on July 30 at Jua Kali trading centre in Uasin Gishu by members of the public on claims that he lived in the same house with the attacker.

Mr Abdi had denied the charges. He had, however, confessed before court that he knew the man who invaded Mr Ruto’s home.

The assailant was shot and killed on the morning of July 30, ending a 20-hour siege. A police officer was shot dead by the assailant during the raid.

Anti-Terrorist Police Unit (ATPU) investigating officer William Ndune had asked the court to allow police detain the suspect for 20 days to complete investigations.
