A meeting called to resolve the nurses’ strike has been cancelled at the last minute, dimming hopes of a quick solution to the health workers’ strike now in day 135.

The meeting was organised by the Council of Governors and the Health ministry amid talk of split in the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN).

“The nurses meeting that was scheduled to take place on Monday, 16th has been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances. The inconveniences caused are highly regrettable,” read an email to KNUN.

Nurses went on strike on June 6 over delays in implementing an agreement that will give them pay rises.
