Instead, the selection panel has shortlisted only 10 applicants for interview. They include former Egerton University vice-chancellor James Tuitoek and Njoki Kahiga -who briefly acted as the Public Service principal secretary in 2013 before she was nominated as a commissioner in the Kenya Law Review Commission for a five-year-term- are shortlisted for the PSC chairperson post.
Also shortlisted are Jonathan Ltipalei, Rodah Awinja, Stephen Kirogo, Rukia Sheik, Baraka Garise, Juster Nkoroi, Rose Aoko, and Lyn Cherop Mengich.
“Members of the public are invited to submit in writing any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates,” the selection panel said in an advert Wednesday.

In April, the PSC asked the National Treasury to lift the freeze on recruitment in the public service to enable them to replace the ageing workforce and address the high youth unemployment.
PSC acting chairperson Peter ole Nkuraiya told National Assembly Parliamentary Accounts Committee the freeze is hurting thousands of youths graduating from universities and who cannot be absorbed in the public service despite possessing requisite skills.
