The Node was formerly Pizza Garden, which was a place where people who still use CDs would frequent.
Something embarrassing happened to me a few days ago. I was at a bar, The Node, seated at the counter with someone I was interviewing.
Seated with us was a lady who was about 24 years old, one of those millennials who look at the world with a bit of scorn, because they know better. There was a Dj called Jay C, which is perhaps what Jesus Christ would have shortened his name had he been living in these interesting and confusing times.
Well, Dj Jay C was playing some really good music and at some point I waved at him to come over and he walked to us with that swagger of a hitmaker.
“Good music, I love it,” I told him. “Do you have a CD of your music I can buy?” The millennial chuckled loudly and looked at me like I was joking.
“What?” I asked her defensively.
The DJ simply grinned.
“Are you serious?” she asked me.
“Nobody sells or even uses CDs anymore!”
But my car only plays CDs, I protested but it was too late. I had lost all my street credibility. Apparent now you get music from something called a mixcloud. I’m sure a good number of you didn’t know that. You are welcome.
The Node was formerly Pizza Garden, which was a place where people who still use CDs would frequent. Now it’s under Jacaranda Hotel and has a grill and pizzeria.
There is a garden bar and a fireplace area with cushions, popular with girl’s night out or chamas.
The vibe in the main bar is relaxed, the music might be a bit loud for a conversation. For that, you can sit at the garden.
It’s a place you can still go for good pizza and polite drinks. It’s also a place you learn a new thing, as I did.
