Construction of the second phase of Garden City along Thika Road is set to begin from next month.

Actis, the UK-based private equity firm coming up with the mixed development, said it will proceed with the next phase of constructing residential units after selling a combined 76 apartments and duplexes on offer in the first phase.

“Garden City Residential Phase 1 was sold out within 12 months. 56 four-bedroom villas are now available for sale off plan and an additional 83 apartments (two and three bed apartments and duplexes),” Actis told the Business Daily in a statement.

The units are priced at between Sh24 million and Sh46 million.

The construction is expected to be completed by 2017. It includes the second phase of Garden Mall, the second largest in East and Central Africa.

Centum Investments, which is constructing the Two Rivers mixed development that will have the largest shopping mall, had also said its apartments and offices projects are in the pipeline.

“We are in the process of identifying other developers to work with on apartments and offices,” said Centum corporate affairs director Fred Murimi in November.

Two Rivers mall off Runda, Nairobi, will be 62,000 square metres while Garden City will be 50,000 square metres.
