FKE National President Mark Obuya told the an annual meeting that the project will be implemented in the 2018-2022 strategic plan period.

“I am happy to be re-elected as president and pledge to execute our strategic plan to make FKE self-sustaining via implementing the office development project.

“It will not only secure the future of FKE but will provide extra revenue from renting out extra office space and parking bays,” he said.

The planned property will mainly be funded by internal reserves generated from member contributions through the development levy, sale of naming rights, direct donations and debt.

Members attending the AGM in Nairobi heard that individuals and corporate firms from across the world had been invited to sponsor naming of wings and rooms of the building. The development will house FKE headquarters, staff offices as well as meeting rooms where training and negotiations will be held.

The new facility will also accommodate a modern resource centre.

FKE has raised Sh187 million via the Development Levy with the final instalment by individual members expected to be paid this year. The levy was mooted in May 2015 during FKEs 56th AGM where members resolved to contribute towards modern headquarters.

Each member was to pay an equivalent of the annual subscription fee for three consecutive years.

The Strategy and Development Committee is also expected to approve architectural and engineering drawings as well as appoint consultants and a building contractor for the project.
