TA Nairobi building complex housing the upscale DusitD2 Hotel and other offices on Tuesday came under a suspected terror attack, with gunfire and explosions being heard.
Here is what we know so far:
Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet says Dusit attackers are suspected to be terrorists; says evacuations ongoing and asks for calm.
One suspect arrested in Riverside attack; many people rescued as police comb Dusit Hotel for attackers.
The complex at 14 Riverside Drive where the attack is underway houses a hotel, offices and banks.
Gunfire has continued since the first report of a possible attack. Some of workers in the complex have locked themselves in their offices.
Vehicles have been burnt at the entrance of the hotel. Police detonated a car that had explosives at the scene, the AP reports. The officers suspect other vehicles have explosives and have urged people to move away.
Security forces are on location and evacuation is underway. Some of the casualties with gunshot wounds have been taken to Aga Khan, Kenyatta and other hospitals in Nairobi.
Kenya Red Cross has set up a tracing desk. If you know anyone who might have been in the building and cannot get hold of them to get in touch on 0715820219
The attack comes just a day after the court preferred charges against three 2013 Westgate terror attack suspects.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility, their spokesman told Al-Jazeera.
The scene is 4km from Westgate.
