The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has asked the Labour court to dismiss a case filed by a JKIA security guard who was sacked on accusation of humiliating Education secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Through lawyer Lorraine Oyombe, the KAA said investigations show Daizy Cherogony was in breach of the airport manager’s HR rules and disciplinary action was recommended.

Dr Matiang’i was delayed for 24 minutes outside the terminal where he almost missed his flight to Kisumu, Ms Oyombe indicated.

She admitted that Ms Cherogony was suspended for denying Dr Matiang’i priority service, requiring him to queue for security check.

“The claimant was issued with a show cause letter. She was informed that it had been reported that she had uttered the words ‘I do not care who you are and you have to queue like all other passengers’ even after the Cabinet Secretary had introduced himself,” she indicated in the memorandum of defence filed in Nyeri Labour court division.

Ms Cherogony is expected to file a response to the KAA’s argument before November 15, 2017 when the matter will come up for mention.
