Kuki Gallman is said to be in a stable condition after she was airlifted to a Nanyuki hospital for treatment.
Ms Gallman is the second rancher to be shot after Sosian’s co-owner Tristan Voorspuy was shot dead on March 6.
Celebrated author Kuki Gallman was on Sunday morning shot and seriously wounded by armed herders who invaded her wildlife conservancy in Laikipia.
Ms Gallman, who has lived at the 98,000-acre Ol Ari Ng’iro Conservancy since 1972, was said to be in a stable condition after she was airlifted to a Nanyuki hospital for treatment.
Area police commander Ezekiel Chepkwony confirmed the incident saying that a massive operation is underway to track down the bandits.
The wildlife sanctuary, which boasts several high-profile lodges, has previously suffered arson attacks that damaged two lodges and 10,000 acres of grass.

Laikipia Farmers Association Vice Chairman Richard Constant blamed Pokot herders for the incident saying they had invaded her ranch on several occasions in search of pastures.
