Jambojet adds flights to Eldoret

  • The new flight schedule will be operational from next month.

Budget carrier Jambojet has added flights to Eldoret in signs of increasing demand for its services.

The Kenya Airways subsidiary, which mainly targets price-sensitive domestic travellers, said it has added three more flights per week on the Nairobi–Eldoret route.

The new flight schedule will be operational from next month.

“This is a 30 per cent seat increase on the route per month. The new schedule will give passengers more flexibility and they will be able to travel to and from Eldoret on the same day,” said Jambojet managing director Willem Hondius in a statement.

Jambojet previously operated 10 flights from Nairobi to Eldoret.

“The airline will increase the number of flights to 13 per week in a bid to meet the market demand,” added Mr Hondius.

National carrier Kenya Airways withdrew from the Eldoret route in March to pave the way for its new subsidiary that started operations on April 1.

The shift was meant to give its low-cost subsidiary Jambojet an easier entry into the agriculture-rich town.

Jambojet flies to Kisumu, Eldoret and Mombasa from Nairobi, with plans underway to start flying to Bujumbura, Kigali, Juba, Goma, Mwanza, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro and Addis Ababa in the near future.

The airline charges about Sh2,850.
