Centum Investment’s mega real estate development Two Rivers and the Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat have inked a deal that makes the multibillion-shilling venture a Vision 2030 flagship project, meaning it will receive technical support from the State.

Two Rivers is a mixed use development on 102 acres of land in Nairobi’s diplomatic blue zone and conceptualised by the Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed firm.

According to the memorundum of understanding, the secretariat will advise the development on compliance and support requests for interventions as covered by the public private partnership framework and the secretariat’s mandate.

Two Rivers will also collaborate with the secretariat in capacity building, benchmarking, technology and knowledge transfer.

“This project proves that we have the capacity to tackle our own challenges such as unemployment and rapid urbanisation. We all have an opportunity to be part of something great” said the Two Rivers board chairman and Centum director Chris Kirubi during the signing.

The first phase of the Two Rivers, set on 55 acres, is expected to be complete by 2020. It will include a retail, commercial, lifestyle centre, three and five-star hotels, luxury apartments, and office parks.

“Through Vision 2030 we are spearheading the transformation of Kenya into a newly industrialising, middle-income country providing a high quality life to all its citizens and a clean and secure environment,” said Prof Gituro Wainaina, acting Director- General of the Vision 2030 Delivery secretarial.

“Projects like Two Rivers are crucial steps in attaining our goals and we are pleased to collaborate in this venture.”
