The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has appointed Geoffrey Odundo as the new chief executive officer of the bourse at a time when the capital gains tax has been introduced in the market.

He officially takes over from Peter Mwangi, who exited the firm at the end of September last year for Old Mutual Kenya as chief executive officer.

Mr Odundo, who takes over from March 1, has sidestepped Andrew Wachira, who has been at the helm in acting capacity since the exit of Mr Mwangi.

He has been an investment banker in the last with 22 years, 16 of which have been in the capital markets in various senior roles in asset management, corporate finance and stock broking.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Odundo has been the managing director and chief executive officer of Kingdom Securities Limited from June 2009.
