Safaricom named top tax payer

Kenya Revenue Authority has named Safaricom as the top tax payer for the 2011/2012 financial year.

Feting the companies on Monday during a Kenya Revenue Authority tax payer's day in Nairobi, President Mwai Kibaki urged corporates to be faithful in remitting taxes if Kenya is to realize the vision 2030.

The President said the top 10 companies' Sh115bn tax remitted accounted for 17 per cent of total revenue collected in the financial year 2011/2012.

He urged Kenyans to be faithful in paying taxes.
