Samsung has moved to grow sales and boost its market share by targeting government’s agencies with some of its education, health and office solutions.

The mobile manufacturing firms is targeting the Teachers Service Commission , Education and Health ministries in a bid to woo them to use its products such as Galaxy tabs, Mobile Learning Management System (m-LMS) and video conferencing platforms.

The move to reach the government agencies is part of wider plan aimed at broadening its market audience that has seen in the past two years also approach corporate organizations such as media houses (Nation Media Group) and higher learning institutions( Strathmore University) with similar products to compliment its mass market.

Apart from Kenya, Samsung is also targeting Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda among other African countries and this week hosted the government officials from these countries in South Africa in the ongoing Samsung Government summit that is expected to end on Sunday.

Samsung Electronics East Africa Business Leader Robert Ngeru said the Cape Town forum is focused on strengthening relationships with the public sector and creating an opportunity by demonstrating how innovative technology solutions are designed and optimised to aid government in accelerating service delivery.

“For Samsung, this was a keen opportunity to not only demonstrate their solutions but to partner with government in the provision of a complete set of solutions that cover critical touch points to assist it in meeting these objectives,” said Mr Ngeru.

In the education sector, Samsung is targeting the governments with a Classroom Management (CRM) functionality, this enables a teacher to send what's on the board to the students' GALAXY Tabs and monitor their devices.

Additionally, the Mobile Learning Management System (m-LMS) provides multiple learning features such as resource sharing and assignment management.

It also intends to introduce Samsung's smart devices and e-boards for an interactive multimedia classroom environment.
