Bamburi Cement #ticker:BAMB has named Seddiq Hassani as the new managing director and appointed him to the firm's board.
He takes over from Eric Kironde, who has been at the helm in an acting capacity since October 2017, effective immediately.
He joins the cement maker from LafargeHolcim's global operations where he served as Head of Growth and Innovation for Middle East and Africa.
Nicolas George, also with LafargeHolcim, has been appointed to the board and will head the firm's subsidiary in Uganda.
"Nicolas joined Lafarge in 2007...he will act as Managing Director, Hima Cement Limited, Uganda," the firm said in a statement Friday evening.
Mr Kironde was Bamburi's chief finance officer and took over from former MD Bruno Pescheux as the board sought his replacement.
The firm is east Africa’s largest cement maker by market share. It is controlled 58.6 per cent by French multinational LafargeHolcim.
