Films agency kicks off voting for Kalasha fete

The Kenya Film Commission (KFC) has announced the beginning of the public voting process in preparation for the Kalasha International Awards gala slated for December 9.

The public can now vote for nominees of various categories through short message services or through a link provided on KFC website.

Those shortlisted in the Best Actress category include Nyokabi Gethaiga (of Katikati film) Joyce Maina (Aisha) Anita Nthenya Kavuu Ng’ang’a (Chebet) and Melissa Kiplagat (Kaleidoscope). Shortlisted items on Best Television Commercials are Faiba, Betin, Mkulima and Wafula films.

The KFC will showcase the shortlisted films in 21 counties until December 2, when the free viewing will end. The free filming is supported by IMAX theatres, public universities and counties. The films are also available on Iflix app.

This year, the awards registered the highest number of entries ever received since inception with the submission of 237 films.
