The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) has been stopped from cancelling a Spanish firm’s Sh2.3 billion contract for the construction of power lines connecting Kenya and Uganda’s national grids.

Justice Olga Sewe has issued an order barring Ketraco from awarding the lucrative tender to any third party following claims by Spain’s Instalaciones Inabensa SA that the State corporation breached terms of the contract before unlawfully backing out of the deal.
