More than half of the casual workers at Mbagathi County Referral Hospital worked without contracts in the year to June 2025, in breach of the Employment Act, an audit revealed.
A review of 70 sampled casual employees, out of an average of 87 casual workers engaged per month, found that only five had job contracts. Another 22 had contracts covering only part of the engagement period, while 43 had no binding contract at all.
