Kenya has secured Sh8.3 billion (€38.8 million) financing from Germany and the European Union (EU) to redevelop the ageing Gogo Hydro Power Plant in Migori County, a move expected to improve electricity supply in Western Kenya.

The facility, first commissioned 64 years ago, will see its output rise more than fourfold—from the current 2 megawatts to 8.6 megawatts—significantly improving electricity generation in a region long plagued by unstable and erratic power.
