Air ticket prices in Kenya have become a growing point of friction for travellers, with fares rising even outside peak seasons and on routes that were once considered relatively affordable. Airlines insist the increases reflect market realities, while passengers suspect opportunistic pricing.

The reality is more complex. Air fares are not set once a year, but dynamic figures that respond constantly to demand, costs, aircraft availability and competition. In many cases, prices can change several times a day on the same route, even when the underlying service remains identical.
