Battered construction, mining firms trail in tax payments

Corporate tax contributions from the construction and mining sectors are the lowest, beating only the education segment, new data shows –  reflecting the financial turmoil in these two sectors of the economy amid losses and growing pending bills.

Data from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) showed that corporate income tax (CIT) receipts from the construction sector fell by 9.02 percent to Sh3.6 billion in the financial year ended June 2024.
