The Treasury has approved Sh168.60 million for the purchase of new cars for the seven commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) who recently took office, as shown in the mini-budget before MPs.
The supplementary budget documents, which are awaiting approval from lawmakers, indicate the electoral agency’s allocation for “purchase of vehicles and other transport equipment” for the current financial year ending June has soared from Sh5.6 million in the original budget to Sh174.2 million.
