Kenya loses 6.8 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) from the care economy that is not paid, recognised, or incorporated in the national accounts system.

The care economy includes all paid and unpaid formal and informal domestic work and care of people such as children, the elderly, the disabled, and those with special needs.
