MPs have questioned the capacity of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to absorb Sh287 billion allocated in the mini-budget, even as concerns arose over the widening budget deficit just two months to the end of the current financial year.
The Budget and Appropriations Committee (BAC) said the national government budget has increased by Sh287.4 billion in the first supplementary estimates for the year, pushing the total budget deficit to Sh1.186 trillion.
